Editor's review
In this application a server acts as the communication gateway. A fax or multiple ones can be supported. Other client computers connected to the server on a network can communicate with outside world with faxes and voice messages.
Pros: Venta4Net is a network fax and voice messaging solution and can be used on Windows 98/ME, NT 4.0, 2000 and XP operating systems. In the multi-line configuration this application can support up to 32 lines from the server. Communications between clients and servers are TCP/IP based. A variety of fax/modems are supported as are the Caller Id and distinctive ring tone features.
Outgoing communications are queued on the server and scheduled. Control of the schedule is with users with appropriate rights, as is whether one can view the public address book only or special lists of contacts or viewing and changing log book entries. Public and personal phone books can be used for sending out fax and voice messages.
Text to speech technology is supported that helps faxes and emails being read out on remote access. WAV files are used for announcements and getting messages and calls recorded. Distinctive ring tones also can be supported if the modem card on the machine supports it. Voice mail box and auto detection of fax/voice/data calls are supported. Access to the fax is via a virtual printer for all windows applications.
The user interface is designed as a real life fax machine. This is surrounded by the menus and controls on top and a explorer like files tree on the left. The files include the announcement contents, log books and some functional tools like the scheduler, script editor and a message manager.
Cons: No obvious problems detected.
Overall a fairly well designed and easy to use application, it is rated at 4 stars.
